The Lawrenny Village Home Farm Project in Pembrokeshire has appointed Tom Russell Architects.

The decision came following two days of deliberations.

The Russell designs were clear favourites in the public consultation. The judges agreed, impressed by Russell's extraordinary understanding of the Lawrenny challenge. 

“We were so impressed by Tom’s vision, his understanding of what makes a community like Lawrenny so wonderful, and most of all the breathtaking simplicity of his designs,” said Adrian Lort-Phillips, managing director of Lawrenny Enterprises.
 
“The greatest challenge was to create a seamless join onto the existing settlement in this beautiful National Park village. He’s managed to do that and still give us homes that will be utterly sustainable, beautiful and, most importantly of all, a joy to live in.”
 
Bristol based Tom Russell who is a fast rising star in the world of architecture says he’s delighted at winning the prestigious competition.

“We’re really excited about the opportunity to work with such a dynamic and ambitious client to explore new ways of achieving a sustainable rural community", said Tom. "Our proposal will use local materials, learn from local forms and marry the technology of the zero carbon home with the inherited wisdom of the welsh rural house."
